Safeguarding is the responsibility of organizations to ensure that their staff, operations, and programmes do no harm to children and at-risk adults and do not expose them to abuse or exploitation. It also involves protecting personnel and collaborators from harm and inappropriate behaviour, including sexual harassment.

JRS is committed to ensuring that its personnel, collaborators, and programmes do not in any way harm the safety, security and/or well-being of the people we serve, community members, personnel, and collaborators.

With this commitment in mind, JRS MENA (Jesuit Refugee Service Middle East and North Africa) is proud to introduce a meaningful and impactful initiative: a series of eight safeguarding videos in Arabic that explore the fundamental principles of safeguarding in humanitarian contexts. The instructive safeguarding videos in Arabic can serve as a dependable resource for other humanitarian actors, making this essential topic more accessible to communities and organizations across the region.

Given the nature of our work with vulnerable children, adults, and personnel from diverse backgrounds, building a strong and consistent understanding of safeguarding is vital. These safeguarding training videos aim to strengthen knowledge and skills, helping everyone contribute to an environment that is safe, respectful, and free from abuse or harm.

Throughout the series, viewers are introduced to key safeguarding topics such as the importance of safeguarding, core principles, reporting procedures, and risk assessment. Each video highlights practical steps that individuals and organizations can take to translate these principles into daily practice, ensuring that safeguarding is not only a policy, but a lived commitment.

The video series is complemented by a comprehensive online safeguarding training on Moodle, designed to deepen understanding and provide structured learning for JRS staff. Together, the videos and training reflect our shared responsibility to create safe spaces for all.
